The Trojan Horse.

This was written in another venue before the May 2016 presidential election. See how it translate into actual events that are slowly unfolding.

I am not gunning for anybody in the May 2016 presidential election. It is because the system has given me no choice. I believe that the system is designed to perpetuate a small circle of the elitist in power who are pretending to be otherwise. The system has been spewing the same faces and names, over and over, time and again, since the days of feudal Philippines. In my humble mind, it doesn’t really matter who wins. So long as the system is perpetuating its intended purpose, nothing can really change, and so I thought. It is certain that my feeling against the system and the politicians that thrive on it is shared by most Filipinos. This is exemplified by the possibility of Mr. Duterte’s pluralist presidency. This is despite his personality frailties, inconsistencies, and self-contradiction, that he himself has been revealing in the course of his campaign. What bothered me most is not only he, the person but his plans and methods to sway the government into the left. What is striking is that there was an admission of financial support from the Chinese. It is a fact that the Philippine government is predominantly right with some conservatives in the middle. Under Duterte’s presidency, a radical sway from right to left will have a disastrous effect. There will be conflicts that could turn violent and bloody. The government will be shaken like a pendulum to self-destruction, to give way to the victorious. The resultant instability and radical changes could translate into economic woes, peace and order collapse. The situation at the least will stand as a diversion away from external concerns particularly that of the West Philippine Sea issue. At worst, it could be the reset button that will alter the Philippine political structure into socialism. The foregoing are allegories that mirror China’s influence, that categorically will benefit China the most. On the political and economic level, he is prepared to compromise the territorial sovereignty and patrimony for infrastructures. On the aspect of military modernization, this will surely be shelved, relegating again the Philippine military into a state of atrophy and backwardness. All the patriotic voices that call for the assertion of territorial rights will be silenced either by natural cause since the people are busy struggling to make things right internally or by coercion. And there goes the Chinese, just 130 kilometers from Zambales and gaining ground. What about the Americans, what do you think they will do, one thing is sure, they will not just sit on their ass and not have a share. So the conflict will rage on and on, with those poor voters of Duterte in the middle, cold and hungry, some could end up dead. And who is to blame? This time it will not just be the system, more so, it will be the impending betrayal of hope and the capitalization on the desperation of the people will lead China’s Trojan horse into power
